We follow the blog of a friend of ours, the Agricultural Landscape Ecology lab. They are, in short, a lab of Entomologists and can help identify all sorts of bugs. Here are some for them. If bugs don't bother you, click on the image for a larger view. Andy
A June Bug exoskeleton?
Another angle.
We see these everywhere and do not know what they are??
Well I hope you get some good comments on these....The last one..especially. We also see them on our wood siding..funny things. Do June Bugs have exoskeletons? Bugs...so interesting..eh!!
Hi! this comment is SUPER late. ALE Lab got a tad overwhelmed during some changes but we are back at blogging now that we are organized again. I just stumbled across your comment (http://www.gardinerlab.blogspot.com/2011/06/ale-lab-unite.html#comment-form) as I was reviewing previous posts.
That exoskeleton is in fact a June bug. Very cool!
That little grouping of sticks is probably some sort of bag worm (though I may be incorrect, with the millions of species of insects it is hard to be right about all of them). Maybe I'll write a post on the ALE blog about the bagworm moth so I can learn more about them!
Thanks for the question and again, sorry it took so long for us to respond.

ReplyDeleteThanks, Bren, and I'm hoping we can get our friends at the ALE Lab to expound a little on the post. Check back soon!
