Snowy Notes and Yummy Dinner

We had a very pleasant surprise last Sunday afternoon. We looked out our front window and found some dear friends had braved our icy steps and left us a treat .... dinner ... actually, plenty for several dinners!

Next to this fun note was a tray of homemade vegetarian lasagna (that would be without bacon Mark!) and yummy fresh bread too! This has to be the best lasagna I have ever had! I'm not bouncing back very quickly since my surgery. The surgery seems to have sent my "CFIDS" into a tail spin. When our friend heard this, she and her 7 year old granddaughter, brought these wonderful treats over for us. Andy is under the weather with a really bad cold, so the timing was perfect, being that he is the cook around here.

I thought Isabelle's idea of a note in the snow was so creative and well done. So I made this note for her. Thank you so much Isabelle and Cory!

Still Winter...

The snow we had last week is starting to melt and the sun has been shining. It's still rather cold though, so I guess we'll hang on to winter a bit longer.

I took these pictures as the sun was setting this evening. There was lots of melting during the day but as the sun reached the horizon everything began freezing up again.

Spring things

After this weeks blast of winter I felt if spring wasn't happening outside, at least I could make it happen inside. I got out some of our spring decorations and did some rearranging. Most of the things in the above pictures I have purchased, over the years, at my friends shop "The Red Ladder."

I just love small pottery. Many of the pieces here are from my Mom. She is very generous in sharing her collections with me. If I simply comment about liking a piece or that I remember seeing it as a child, she has it wrapped for me to take home before I've even finished my sentence. It brings me a lot of joy to have things from my childhood all around our home.

Today we are going to move some pictures in the living room. I'll post some pix when we're done.

Cat-Nap Wednesdays

As predicted, we got about a foot of snow last night. I lost the spot for my lawn chair! Our friend Sue, who owns the "Red Ladder" posted some great pictures of the storm on her blog.
Katie thought it was good napping weather ... of course, she thinks that about any and all types of weather. She is sleeping on a pile of old tee shirts ... they belong to her ... at nap time, I warm them in the dryer for her. (no, she's not spoiled!!)

Hope everyone is warm and safe,
Michele

One more photo set from Florida. Living in the North, this makes me anxious for spring and summer!

Cat-Nap Wednesdays

So it's been 12 years since we moved ..... I'm still going through boxes! I don't want to rush into anything. Katie helped by tipping this box over, digging her way in and taking a nap. So much for cleaning up....
She slept here all morning!

Sunglasses!

Andy and I both enjoy the four seasons. We are always sad to see one season end, yet excited to welcome the change and the new season. Winters in northern Michigan tend to be rather gray, with March being notorious for having very few sunny days. So when the sun peaked out today, I grabbed my dusty sunglasses, gave them a quick cleaning and headed out to take in the rays.

I found an area where the snow was melted just enough to set up my chair. Although I needed my coat, I was still happy to enjoy the warmth of the sun. I heard one of the radio broadcasters say "You always know when a spring day, in northern Michigan, is above 40 degrees .... everyone is in shorts and sweatshirts!" I didn't go that far but the sun did feel good.
This was the view I had from my chair ... but that was fine with me.
Happy Spring!

Cows . . . in the Everglades?!

Recall the air-boat ride we took several weeks ago in the Florida Everglades. In one corner of this very large lake/open area, we went through some thick plants and huge bogs. Then, in a great everglade cul-de-sac surrounded by a cattle farm we found these . . . . "wild Everglade creatures" . . . . just . . . . well . . . . hanging out. It was NOT what we expected, but entertaining just the same! (Click to enlarge.)

Cat-Nap Wednesdays

This little box is what Katie's food comes in. It holds 24 cans of Katie's food ... and, in Katie's mind, it holds 21 lbs of herself! She spent the entire afternoon trying to sleep in the tiny box!

By late in the day I guess she decided it was too small but she wasn't ready to totally give up!

Yes, all the paper and other cardboard belong to her too. Andy really enjoys her mess!

Happy Wednesday!
