Some Fall Pix

While we didn't get out this fall as much as we intended, we did get some shots. (Before fall is completely gone I wanted to share these so Macro Monday will be back next week.)

Macro Monday

Andy asked me to do Macro Monday this week, therefore the photography is not what our readers are used to seeing. Well, I do the best I can with my small point and shoot camera and lack of photography talent. I think this will probably be an easy one. Any ideas??

This most likely gives it away!

Happy first Monday of fall!

A Study in Leaves

I was ready to post a series of shots on leaves. I noticed one pic, however, that really struck me in multiple ways. It seemed that one pic could give rise to several nice pix if I studied it a little using some creative cropping. I still plan to post more on leaves, but I liked what I found in this one and hope you do too.

Wild Turkey Family

Typically, wild turkeys have their young in the spring. Every now and then though they have a late brood of chicks (poults) like this family. We originally saw 6 and now there are 5. While we see them often in our area throughout the year this is the closest we've seen a family; they've been surprisingly tame. We've enjoyed them around the house and hope they survive the winter.

Peach Crisp

Yes, we served this with our Peach Caramel Ice Cream from a few posts earlier!
More peaches!! Just can't get enough of them this time of year. The following is my Grandma's recipe. I often add oatmeal to the topping and use a bit less flour. Also, it's good with any other fruit you might like. When I was growing up I remember the house smelling so good on chilly fall afternoons, when my Mom used this recipe for apple crisp.

Peach Crisp
4 C fresh peaches; peeled and sliced
3/4 C dark brown sugar
1/4 C butter
1/2 C flour
1 t cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350. Arrange peach slices in a greased 8X8 pan. Combine remaining ingredients and sprinkle over peaches. Bake for about 45 minutes. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped topping.

Apple Fest in Charlevoix, MI

What do you do on an amazingly beautiful fall day? Well if you're in the area of Charlevoix, you take in the fun Apple Festival--it's their 32rd annual!
Stroll the higher end art show, peruse the thousands of apples on sale, and take in some great food. Single serving apple dumplings are my favorite from last year, so much so that I got three to go this year! No, I am not planning to eat them in one day. (At least . . . I'm not . . . "planning" on it. ;-> )

There is a randomized water fountain right on the boardwalk. We didn't expect to see kids running through it. In hindsight, we don't think their parents did either!

Hope your fall is as gorgeous and yummy as ours!
